New Beginnings: On The Other Side is Light

Sometimes, when things come to a close, all we are able to see is a wall in front of us. This has always made me sad; I’m not always ready for things to end. I often need time to mourn the loss.

What I’ve come to know, and what I try to remind myself, is that on the other side of that wall is new opportunity. New life. Light.

I’ve written previously about the difficulty of change. Endings are perhaps the most daunting way that change manifests. Even still, endings offer an opportunity to begin refreshed and, most importantly to me, full of hope. I am a hopeful person by nature. I trust that I am where I’m meant to be. And I know that not all endings are forever-- some are just pauses.

So now, when something ends, I look past the wall that seems to block my progress. I assess what went wrong and what went right. I get curious about where I am in my journey, and I look forward to the other side.

There is great power in reframing things, and I hope that you too are able to recognize the light on the other side of a dark situation. That light is where hope, joy, and love live, and they are abundant if you allow them in.
