Choosing to See the Good & Beauty in Life
Do you know why we so often notice the bad more than the good? It’s because goodness surrounds us so completely that we grow accustomed to it. It lives in the quiet hum of white noise, in birdsong, in the laughter—and even the tears—of those we love. It’s in the sky that stretches endlessly above us, if only we’d take the time to look. It’s in the little and the grand moments, from the instant we wake until we drift back to sleep. It’s in the way we feel, the way we touch others’ lives, and the way others touch ours. It’s in every act of kindness, every offering of love—whether we give it, receive it, or simply witness it.
This is life. Beautiful, abundant, sacred. And yet, we often become numb to it. We stop noticing the ever-present good until something painful happens. A small or great hardship suddenly cuts through the background, commanding all of our attention, while the beauty that was always there seems to vanish. But it hasn’t vanished—it’s waiting. Waiting for us to remember that what we choose to nurture will grow.
Lately, I’ve been holding onto this truth, especially in moments that feel heavy or hard. I’ve always believed that when faced with a choice between the easy path and the hard one, the right path is often the harder one. And this is no exception. When my world feels dim or unkind, I make it a practice to seek out the light, to search for beauty. Because no matter how hidden it may seem, it is always there.
So much of my work is about this—revealing beauty where others may not see it, uncovering what is overlooked, and inviting you to look at the world with fresh eyes.
So today, if something pulls your attention toward what is wrong, I invite you to try what I’ve been trying: look for what is good. Remember that it has never left you. It is not hiding—it is simply waiting to be noticed again.
Sending you love and light,
