Embracing Dreams

As we continue on our journey together, I want to share a powerful thought that resonates deeply with me: “The size of your dreams must always exceed your current capacity to achieve them.” This quote from Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the former President of Liberia, serves as a reminder that our aspirations should push us beyond our comfort zones.

Have you ever felt hesitant to dream? Perhaps you’ve sensed that you’re not worthy of something greater, or you’ve grown comfortable with the status quo. It’s easy to get caught up in a race where others have stopped competing, leading us to doubt our potential. I’ve experienced this struggle, and I know many of you have too.

There was a time in my life when I hit an emotional low, just as I was about to embark on this business venture. It’s often said that right before something great happens, we face our lowest moments. I believe this is no coincidence—it’s during these times that we become open to new ideas and dreams we might have otherwise been too afraid to entertain.

Every night, I would lie down and pray for a different reality. I envisioned a beautiful lavender space filled with the scents of the sea and flowers, surrounded by my loved ones feelings of acceptance, love and purpose flooded me. That dream felt palpable, and three years later, my designs inspired by the sea were showcased at Bergdorf Goodman, a place that smells of flowers and whose logo is lavender. This business was born from those vivid images, those deeply felt emotions, and my need for purpose, place and passion.

Now, as I close my eyes each night, my mind is filled with new inspirations that propel me and this company forward. I visualize what I desire for myself and my family, and it feels incredibly real.

I want to encourage each of you to embrace your dreams, especially if you find yourself at a crossroads. Take time each night to imagine how you want to feel and let those feelings guide you. You don’t need to have all the answers; just focus on your “why.” I believe that if you keep your mind open, the right ideas will come to you, and you too can create something beautiful and uniquely yours—something that brings you joy and fulfillment.
